Michael Friedrich Hager is an architect, computational designer, and photographer based in Vienna. The practice — operating under the name Atelier Atlas — sits at the intersection of structural and material systems, digital workflows, and spatial storytelling.
After completing a Bachelor's at TU Wien, the Master's took shape largely in Paris — across two stays at the École nationale supérieure d'architecture Paris-Malaquais and Paris-La Villette — before returning to Vienna to conclude the degree. An extended stay at the University of Tokyo deepened a focus on computational methods and circular timber structures. Professional positions at Ateliers Jean Nouvel in Paris and ATP Architekten und Ingenieure in Vienna shaped a profile that combines concept-driven design culture with technical depth and a close attention to visual quality.
Alongside these positions, a self-employed practice has produced several projects across Île-de-France — renovation, restoration, and adaptive reuse — with a current project underway in New York state.
The profile that has emerged from these years is one that combines design ambition, research depth, and the practical experience of building in different contexts.
